J O H N P A I T

The son of Hazel and Doug, was born in 1953. He graduated from Appalachian in 1975. His roommate for the college years was Andy Kennedy, who later joined his organization. After graduation, he really wanted to take his motorcycle to the West coast but his mother, Hazel, urged him to go to Mendenhall Auction School in High Point, NC. He did and in two weeks, finished the school and began auctioneering. He said, "Isn't that something? 5 years in college (degree in Political Science) and but two weeks in auctioneering school and bang... I am an auctioneer for life!" He finished Mendenhall in 1976, obtained his license and started the "John Pait and Associates" auctioneering company. He is very busy doing multiple types of auctioneering. John was one of the few, along with Wayne Mendenhall who finished college and went primarily into his vocation (full-time) rather than multiple jobs first and into auctioneering's back door. John inherited a tremendous business and is grateful to the Reynolds family and his dad. He took it and ran and it has grown rapidly under his direction.

Since the company was formed in 1976, no auction has ever been canceled due to weather. John is fast, no nonsense, extremely capable and is surrounded by a competent, experienced ground or ring crew.
